Context

Additive manufacturing (AM) is a booming industry in several sectors, including aerospace. It enables companies to optimize their production processes by introducing new approaches that are more efficient and profitable on a long-term basis.

In this context, several universities and OEMs aim to develop this new technology by acquiring additive manufacturing equipment, which is a costly process requiring significant grant applications. Yet these efforts are sometimes made for the acquisition of strictly identical equipment within the community.
